Bmw Universal Garage Opener
The last step after programming the BMW's home link button is to press the learn button on the back of the garage door opener (the one attached to the ceiling) and then press your programmed BMW home link button and hold it down for a few seconds. This will link the two. This is a requirement of most newer rolling code garage door opener systems. Thanks everyone. Your posts helped me alot. My x5 opener now works with the garage door. Mine only worked when i did a couple of things different from the bmw manual. I had to hold the garage door opener (ie the one that we usually clip to the visor) directly touching the rear view mirror. The manual says to hold it 4 inches or more away.

ive programmed one of the three buttons on the rear view mirror of my 2008 x5 (havent done the others yet). it doesnt have much range on it. the x5 has to be within just a few feet of the door in order for the x5 button to open the door. is this typical if not is there a way to improve the range so that i can push the button and be several car lengths away from the door thanks
